UPDATE: 9am 5 September
Wow, thank you all for your incredible comments.
Following your calls for communication from the Charter School Agency, we received a response at 6:45pm on Thursday the 4th of September. The response advised that “at this stage, the Board’s decisions are final'“. It was also confirmed that feedback regarding our application will be published once the “full process has been concluded”.
You can view the response from the Charter School Authorisation Board here.
In lieu of a positive outcome from our application to open a Charter School, we are comforted by the support of our community, and remain steadfast in our commitment for addressing this growing need in our district.

It is with real disappointment that we share the news: our application to open Atlas High School as a charter school has been rejected by the Charter School Authorisation Board.
This decision hurts… Not just for those of us who worked on the application, but for the families who registered interest, the partners who stood beside us, the local businesses who offered support, and the many community leaders who believed Atlas was needed.
We believed that Atlas represented an extraordinary opportunity for Queenstown. To see it dismissed so quickly feels like a loss not just for us, but for the whole community.
Where Do We Go From Here?
Now, more than ever, we need your voices.
Please share your thoughts in the comments below. Tell us what Atlas meant to you, what this decision means for Queenstown, or how you feel about the future of schooling in our region.
Your responses will show that Atlas really was a project owned by the people of this community.
Please note comments are moderated and public - keep it civil!
